Now a cozy, sentimental home, we took the original moldy, decrepit structure down to the foundation and redesigned everything, including window placement designed to frame idyllic views of the lake and the mountain scenery.
Project quick facts
We used a blend of luxe fabric in light, airy color palettes with rustic elements like stone and richly stained wood for results that are comfortable for modern living while still feeling at home in the mountain setting
By not using stained wood ceilings in every space, the light moves through the house rather than being absorbed by expanses of dark ceiling
We added a stacked stone wall with an arched opening between the kitchen and the living room to echo the fireplace wall on the opposite side of the room
We got creative with lighting throughout the house, employing classic stylesbut scaled up for dramatic effect, as well as a stunning intertwined branches chandelier above the dining table
